What is the difference between Advisory Retainer and Embedded Leadership?

Advisory Retainer is a monthly cadence: one working session a month plus async support between sessions, with a quarterly board-ready posture review. Embedded Leadership is a weekly cadence with a named CTO, CIO, or COO on your org chart and direct accountability for a function. Most clients start with Advisory Retainer. They move to Embedded when the business needs a named operator in leadership meetings every week.

Are these prices firm?

Yes. $5,500/mo Advisory Retainer and $11,500/mo Embedded Leadership are the standing rates. Annual or portfolio engagements (typical for PE sponsors with multiple portfolio companies) are quoted separately. Email sscherer@newf.tech for portfolio terms.

Do you require an annual contract?

Accepted Answer

No. Both engagement tiers are month-to-month. We have not found it necessary to lock clients in. The work itself does the retention.

How do project engagements work?

Accepted Answer

Fixed scope, defined deliverable, single price within the published range. We scope the work in a brief written statement of work, then deliver against it. No retainer required. Project engagements are most useful when a specific decision (a vendor selection, a post-acquisition integration plan) needs to land in a defined timeline.

Can a project engagement convert into a retainer?

Often. The first 30 days of a Security posture assessment or a System selection engagement are a useful read on whether ongoing Advisory makes sense. If both sides want to continue, we roll the project credit into the first retainer month.
